Moving, How to Do Packing Efficiently.
Hints and Tips

1. It is reasonable to pack most of your stuff on your own. This quite a simple procedure saves you from paying a lot of extra money to mover. You can pack such non-fragile items as clothing and shoes, linen, books, small kitchen appliances, as well as cheap replaceable items like plates and dishes. Never let the movers pack priceless and expensive items like – jewelry, family heirlooms, sports memorabilia, photo albums, and various hobby collections. Pack these items yourself and take them with you, either in the car or as carry-on luggage if size allows. However, the furniture, mattresses, heavy appliances are better to be packed by the mover. Preparing your home appliances and computer for packing and loading, disconnect and unplug them, before the movers arrive.

2. Choose the moving boxes of the right size and strengths for your items. Pack your casual cloths (t-shirts, jeans), fine clothing (suits, dresses) and shoes in separate wardrobe boxes. For your fine china it is advisable to use the padded dish boxes. It is important for you to buffer and separate the fragile items that you pack with old newspaper, bubble wrap, sheets, blankets, pillows and towels. Wrap each fragile item separately. Pack plates and glass objects vertically. For your replaceable and non-fragile items, you can use the free boxes from supermarkets and or just wrap the items in old newspaper.
Remember, the heavier the item, the smaller the box it should occupy. Avoid tossing bulk of things into one huge box. A good rule of thumb is if you can't lift the box easily, it's too heavy!
3. It’s a common rule for movers to inspect each box tended to shipment for the safety of items. Draw a special attention of the movers to boxes, containing valuable items and boxes that you packed on your own. The movers may advise you which boxes are needed to be repacked, moreover they have the right to refuse to load any box they deem improperly packed. Any improperly packed boxes must be repacked either by you or the mover. All repacking services are additional costs. It is up to you to choose the packing boxes of the mover, they are more safe, or your own boxes, which are more susceptible to causing damage to your valuables in transit. . Keep in mind that movers are not liable for items they didn't pack.
4. Movers will not transport: plants and pets, paint, thinners, solvents, oils, varnishes, firearms and ammunition, bottled gas, propane, lamp oil, anything flammable, explosive or corrosive, motor fuels and oils, nail polish remover, bleach and aerosol cans

5. Designate a room in your home, better the one closest to the door, in which to place all of your boxes. Keep related boxes together since they'll end up in the same room. This will help cut on the carrying time and make the move much more efficient and the whole process of loading easier and more organized.
